Letztes Jahr hatte ich als grosser Fan des Vertigo Swirl Labels eine sogenannte Label-Werkschau zusammengestellt und mir dabei immer jeweils den vermeintlich besten Song einer jeden auf dem Vertigo Swirl Label erschienenen LP zusammengetragen.
Dieses Jahr mache ich dasselbe mit dem Harvest Label. Diese Arbeit wird demnächst beendet sein und ich möchte mich nachfolgend wiederum einem Label und den interessantesten Veröffentlichungen aus „unserer“ Zeit (also bis ca. 1980) widmen, um erneut eine etwas andere, eher aussergewöhnliche Zusammenstellung zu machen.
Ich habe mich dabei für das ISLAND Label entschieden. Einerseits, weil das Label im Jahre 1959 von Chris Blackwell als reines Reggae-Label mit Domizil Jamaica gegründet wurde. Erst gegen Ende der Sechziger Jahre wechselte das Domizil nach England, und mit dem aufkeimenden Progressiv-Rock verpflichtete Chris Blackwell zahlreiche englische Bands, die später den ganz grossen Durchbruch, fernab von Reggaeklängen, schafften: Renaissance, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Spooky Tooth, Fairport Convention, Traffic, Free, Emerson., Lake & Palmer und unzählige Soloartisten wie Cat Stevens, Nick Drake, John Martyn, Steve Winwood und so weiter. Gleichzeitig blieb das Label trotz Mainstream dem Reggae treu, und gerade ab ca. 1975, als der grosse Reggae-Boom einsetzte, konnte das Label weiter erfolgreich operieren mit seinen jamaikanischen Acts wie Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse, Aswad, Black Uhuru oder Bunny Wailer.
Weil das ISLAND Label letztlich alles bietet, was ein Sammelgebiet ausmacht (grosse Stilvielfalt, verschiedene grafische Label-Perioden, seltene Kostbarkeiten) würde ich gerne dieses ehrgeizige Projekt lancieren. Dazu nunfolgend jene Platten aus der vorgesehenen Zeit (ca. 1968 – 1980), die ich einerseits selber im Regal habe, und andererseits jene Platten, die ich nicht besitze, aber sehr gerne in diese Wekrschau einbinden würde.

Achtung: Wenn immer möglich sollten es keine der bekannten Songs, Hits oder Singles sein, sondern lieber ausschliesslich wenig bekannte LP Titel.
Das macht das Ganze viel spannender, finde ich.
Na, dann hoffe ich mal auf Input von Euch…..
Dieses Jahr mache ich dasselbe mit dem Harvest Label. Diese Arbeit wird demnächst beendet sein und ich möchte mich nachfolgend wiederum einem Label und den interessantesten Veröffentlichungen aus „unserer“ Zeit (also bis ca. 1980) widmen, um erneut eine etwas andere, eher aussergewöhnliche Zusammenstellung zu machen.
Ich habe mich dabei für das ISLAND Label entschieden. Einerseits, weil das Label im Jahre 1959 von Chris Blackwell als reines Reggae-Label mit Domizil Jamaica gegründet wurde. Erst gegen Ende der Sechziger Jahre wechselte das Domizil nach England, und mit dem aufkeimenden Progressiv-Rock verpflichtete Chris Blackwell zahlreiche englische Bands, die später den ganz grossen Durchbruch, fernab von Reggaeklängen, schafften: Renaissance, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Spooky Tooth, Fairport Convention, Traffic, Free, Emerson., Lake & Palmer und unzählige Soloartisten wie Cat Stevens, Nick Drake, John Martyn, Steve Winwood und so weiter. Gleichzeitig blieb das Label trotz Mainstream dem Reggae treu, und gerade ab ca. 1975, als der grosse Reggae-Boom einsetzte, konnte das Label weiter erfolgreich operieren mit seinen jamaikanischen Acts wie Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse, Aswad, Black Uhuru oder Bunny Wailer.
Weil das ISLAND Label letztlich alles bietet, was ein Sammelgebiet ausmacht (grosse Stilvielfalt, verschiedene grafische Label-Perioden, seltene Kostbarkeiten) würde ich gerne dieses ehrgeizige Projekt lancieren. Dazu nunfolgend jene Platten aus der vorgesehenen Zeit (ca. 1968 – 1980), die ich einerseits selber im Regal habe, und andererseits jene Platten, die ich nicht besitze, aber sehr gerne in diese Wekrschau einbinden würde.

Achtung: Wenn immer möglich sollten es keine der bekannten Songs, Hits oder Singles sein, sondern lieber ausschliesslich wenig bekannte LP Titel.
Das macht das Ganze viel spannender, finde ich.
