„THE NEW PROGRESSIVES UK TOUR 2009
Francis Dunnery will be touring the UK in October 2009 with his New Progressives project.
"I'm incredibly excited about this project" says Dunnery "I have been in discussions with the band for the past few weeks and we are beginning to get on the same page. I have sent them the songs that we will be 'Progressin' and they are busy soaking them up as we speak. I have also recruited some cool guests to contribute their musical talents to the project and I have a pretty good idea of what the overall project will look like when its finished. The live show should be a trip, we are definitely going to be doing some pretty weird shit".
The New Progressives project will feature songs from "THE BRAND NEW IT BITES' as well as songs from other artists that Dunnery has an interest in 'Progressin'. Dunnery laughs "I think those old It Bites melodies are just screaming to be glorified in their middle age. I can't wait to get at them, its going to be a lot of fun".
With the album set for release in September, Dunnery will be touring the UK in October with an exciting new band from the USA and a whole new batch of songs. "I don't want to give away which songs we will be performing right now" says Dunnery "I think it will be more in the spirit of the project to leave it until we release the CD"

Nun aber zur Do – CD aus dem Jahre 2009. Schon das erste Stück zeigt um was es ihm bei diesem Projekt geht; IT BITES Titel neu zu arrangieren, um ihnen ein Zeitgemäßes musikalisches Gewand zu verpassen. Das ist sicherlich nicht ungefährlich, da viele Progger die Nasen rümpfen könnten und verschreckt die Skip Taste einsetzen.
Zum Glück aber gibt es viele Hörer, die auch über den Tellerrand hinausschauen und neue Dinge zulassen, bzw. sich damit auseinander setzen.

Die Musik zu beschreiben fällt mir nicht leicht, viele Neuinterpretationen bewegen sich im locker flockigen Mid Tempo Bereich. Bauchige und E Gitarre werden von vielen Instrumenten unterstütz. Piano und Streicher wären da zu nennen, die gab es bei IT BITES eigentlich nie. Am ehesten würde ich die Musik „Steely Dan“ zuordnen. Sollte ich bei einigen von euch Interesse geweckt haben, so würde ich mich freuen, da mir der Erfolg des Mannes am Herzen liegt.
Sein Ritt durch 20 IT BITES Klassiker ist mutig, aber die Umsetzung muss als gelungen bewertet werden. Egal ob CD 1 oder 2, es gibt keinen Ausfall; die liebevoll und voller feinster Details vorgetragenen Stücke bereiten mir sehr großes Hörvergnügen. Ein Beispiel für einen Vergleich mit „Steely Dan“ wäre „Unbeneath your pillow“, dass als Mid Tempo Nummer so ungewöhnlich gespielt wird, dass es mir einen Schauer über den Rücken jagt.
